Host Home Providers

Host Home Provider Description and Requirements

Best Day Services, LLC (BDS) provides services and supports to adults who have a developmental disability. In order to do that, we believe that many clients, if they cannot live independently or with their family, can thrive in a family environment by living with a host home provider.

Host Home Providers (HHPs) are an incredibly important part of the success of individuals in our program. A Host Home Provider is someone who cares for someone in their own home, similar to foster care, but for adults. They not only provide a family environment and home life, but help each person reach important goals, learn new skills and hobbies, and above all – experience life!

Each host home provider has strengths and weaknesses in areas of care. Some providers are excellent with higher-functioning individuals, teaching them independence skills, connecting them with others in the community, and being very active with the individual.

Other HHPs are excellent at one-on-one, extensive medical care, and doing tasks the individual cannot do on their own including feeding, hygiene, g-tubes, etc.

Other HHPs are excellent with difficult behaviors, offering patient and caring redirection and ideas for helping individuals deal with difficulties and helping them find new coping skills.

Therefore, HHPs who contract with BDS are required to not only have all the necessary training, but to be compassionate, attentive, and dedicated to helping each individual in their care have the best out of life. When we match individuals with HHPs, we make sure that it is a compatible match and that all the needs of the individual will be taken care of.

Host Home Providers are independent contractors and are paid a daily rate, once a month, for the overall care of an individual. The Host Home Provider must have a trade name, professional liability insurance, and required training and documentation to qualify. But don’t worry, we will walk you through the steps necessary to help you along the way.
